Legislative Action Newsletter (LWVWA)
LWV Washington publishes a weekly Legislative Action Newsletter during the state legislative session. It includes plain-language updates on key bills and "action alerts" that make it easy to contact your legislators. Washington State Legislative Advocacy
LWVWA's advocacy work is led by issue chairs, a contract lobbyist, and trained volunteer advocates. Before each session, the lobby team prepares issue papers that summarize the League's position, provide background, and preview likely legislation.
The lobby team tracks bills throughout the session and lists what they are supporting, opposing, or monitoring on the LWVWA Legislative Issues page. Their work is guided by League positions adopted through member study and consensus at the local, state, and national levels.
How League positions are made
The League studies public issues, members discuss and reach consensus, and the League adopts written positions approved by the Board. Local League positions may also be used to support advocacy at the city or county level.
