Elections & Voting Information
Washington is a vote-by-mail state. Ballots are mailed to registered voters, and you can return your ballot by mail (postage-paid) or to an official drop box.
Register to vote

Key deadlines (Washington State)
- Online or by mail: registrations and updates must be received 8 days before Election Day.
- In person: you can register or update your registration up to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day at your county elections office / voting center.
Return your ballot
- By mail: return postage is prepaid.
- By drop box: use any official ballot drop box (drop boxes close promptly at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day).
